DOOM CREATIONS

This page contains various Doom-inspired creations. You won't find levels or cheat utilities or anything like that on here; this page contains stand-alone creative works, like freeware Doom-based games, videos, etc. If you have a Doom Creation you'd like featured on this page, go ahead and mail the URL to me.

Doom: The Roguelike
Doom: The Roguelike, made by Kornel Kisielewicz, is not just one of the best Doom Creations I've ever seen, it's one of the best games I've ever seen. This graphically simple MS-DOS masterpiece takes a whole new approach to Doom. Its RPG-like qualities and turn-based gameplay make quick thinking and good reflexes irrelevant, making strategy the key to success. All the old weapons and enemies are there, the enemies even represented in large full-color text pictures in their stat screens. The Windows version (which runs in a DOS box) plays sounds and music just fine in newer versions of Windows.

Doom Day Movie
Doom Day is an awesome movie made by Tennie and Hertog Jan, both ZDaemon regulars, that depicts an online Capture the Flag game on city streets. It does a nice job of blending Doom and reality, something every Doomer does in his head once in while.

Alternate Doom
Alternate Doom is a Flash animation made by Brian Wilson, the creator of this site's old Flash intro. The attention to detail is fantastic, from Martian dust storms to dialogue.

Doom Comic
The Doom Comic was written by Tom Grindberg in 1996. Hilarious and presented in classic comic book style, reading this thing always just makes me want to play Doom.

Doom 2D: Knee-Deep in the Dead
The title says it all, and it may make you ask "Why?" Removing the third dimension from Doom doesn't just remove the third dimension, it turns Doom into a game of a completely different genre, giving the game's author a lot of room for creative material. This freeware game, made by Smiley with Game Maker, is surprisingly fun, and very faithful to Doom's graphics and sounds. I cannot get it work in Windows XP without first changing my resolution to 640x480, which can be done by right-clicking on the game's exe file, selecting "Properties", selecting the "Compatibilty" tab, and checking the box next to "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution".

Doom Birthday Card
This is a comic made by my friend Joe of We Are the Mainstream for my sixteenth birthday. This made me laugh my ass off, I had to put it here.
