ENEMIES

The enemies in Doom are what make it what it is. Some are a real challenge to kill. Here they are:

Zombieman

STATS

Health: 20
Weapon: pistol
The Zombiemen are very easy to kill. They're slow and weak. And, you get an ammo clip after killing one.
Weapon to use:
Don't waste your ammo. Two or three pistol shots will get this guy. Hell, use the fist if you want.

Shotgun Guy

STATS

Health: 30
Weapon: shotgun
The Shotgun Guy can easily get confused with the Zombieman, but the Shotgun Guy is tougher. More health, much better weapon. You get a shotgun after killing one.
Weapon to use:
Shotgun Guys are about as weak as Zombiemen, so a pistol will kill one pretty quick. I would suggest using a shotgun, though, considering the Shotgun Guy's weapon.

Imp

STATS

Health: 60
Weapon: fireballs, fingernails
This is where they start getting tough. The Imp throws fireballs that make a bee line for you and scratches you at close range.
Weapon to use:
The Imp's fireballs are pretty easy to strafe around, so a pistol would do it. Use a shotgun if you can.

Heavy Weapon Dude

STATS

Health: 70
Weapon: chaingun
These guys will really hurt you if you're not careful. He steps up to you and fires his chaingun non-stop until you kill him or go behind a wall. At least you get a chaingun after killing one.
Weapon to use:
This guy is way more dangerous than he looks. A super shotgun will blow him to pieces in one shot.

Demon

STATS

Health: 150
Weapon: teeth
Demons are about the easiest enemies to kill. Their only weapon is their teeth, so they can't hurt you unless they're right next to you. They're strong and fast, though.
Weapon to use:
Demons aren't a big danger, considering they have no far attack. But they are strong and will take a couple shotgun blasts to kill. Use the shotgun or super shotgun.

Cacodemon

STATS

Health: 400
Weapon: fireballs
Cacodemons fly around, hurling fireballs at you. They're a little tough to kill considering they're strong and can fly.
Weapon to use:
A chaingun will take a cacodemon down in just a few seconds. The bullets stun it, so it can't fight back if you aim right.

Lost Soul

STATS

Health: 100
Weapon: itself
Lost Souls are really nothing to worry about. They're more of an annoyance than anything else. They fly around, and every now and then they rush toward you, biting you. They are only a problem when there's a Pain Elemental near.
Weapon to use:
A shotgun or super shotgun will take care of these.

Hell Knight

STATS

Health: 500
Weapon: green fireballs, fingernails
I hate these. They're strong, fast, and they throw green fireballs at you. And as if that isn't enough, they can scratch you too.
Weapon to use:
The plasma gun is the best weapon against these. It gets the job done and due to it's rapid fire, stuns the Hell Knight so it has a hard time firing at you.

Baron of Hell

STATS

Health: 1000
Weapon: green fireballs, fingernails
Appropriate name. They're the same as the Hell Knight except that they're twice as strong.
Weapon to use:
Same as the Hell Knight, but you might want to use a BFG.

Arachnotron

STATS

Health: 500
Weapon: plasma bullets
The Arachnotron is creepier than it is hard to kill. It walks around making screeching noises until it finds you and bombards you with plasma bullets. You don't even get a plasma rifle after killing one.
Weapon to use:
Arachnotrons are dangerous and pretty hard to kill. If there's enough distance between you and the Arachnotron, use the rocket launcher. Otherwise, use a plasma gun or super shotgun.

Pain Elemental

STATS

Health: 400
Weapon: Lost Souls
These things have an unusual weapon. The Pain Elemental flies around slowly while it spits out Lost Soul after Lost Soul. These things can't really hurt you, but they can sure slow you down. They can quickly fill up a room with Lost Souls until you can't keep up with it. After you kill it, it blows up into several more Lost Souls!
Weapon to use:
Kill this thing as fast as you can! Use the BFG.

Revenant

STATS

Health: 300
Weapon: guided and unguided missiles, fist
The Revenant launches guided and unguided missiles at you and is a hell of a fighter. Try getting into a fist fight with one, it's fun.
Weapon to use:
Well, if you don't feel like fist fighting, use a plasma gun. Those guided missiles suck.

Mancubus

STATS

Health: 600
Weapon: pairs of fireballs
A lot like a huge Imp, the Mancubus fires fireballs at you. But unlike the Imp, the Mancubus' fireballs are in pairs, making them very hard to dodge. Also, they hurt a lot more.
Weapon to use:
If there's wall to hide behind, use a super shotgun. Otherwise, get the job done with a rocket launcher or plasma gun.

Arch-Vile

STATS

Health: 700
Weapon: fire
The Arch-Vile is just about the last thing you want to see. They're fast, hard to kill, and they bring the dead back to life. About every five seconds, they burn you. At least they're rare.
Weapon to use:
BFG!!!

The Spider Mastermind

STATS

Health: 3000
Weapon: high-powered triple chaingun
The thing that makes Doom hard to play for arachnophobics. The Spider Mastermind is a huge, roboticized spider with a high-powered chaingun. Too bad your chaingun can't do what it's can.
Weapon to use:
Don't worry about losing ammo. Fire your BFG until it's out of ammo, then hit the Spiderdemon with all the rockets you have.

The Cyberdemon

STATS

Health: 4000
Weapon: rocket launcher
The real last thing you want to see. The Cyberdemon is strong and very hard to get close to (considering it's constantly launching rockets). It's rockets are hard to dodge because it launches three in a row, making it so that if you're dodging one rocket, you'll probably just run into another one.
Weapon to use:
If you can't just run away from this thing, pump it full of rockets or plasma.

SS Nazi

STATS

Health: 50
Weapon: pistol
These things only appear in the two secret levels of Doom 2. They march up to you and fire a pistol non-stop. The fact that you get to blow away Nazis makes Doom that much funner.
Weapon to use:
These are pretty easy to take care of with a shotgun. But if you want to pretend they're real Nazis, put them through the most pain possible and get your rocket launcher out.

Commander Keen

STATS

Health: 100
Weapon: none
You're playing the second secret level of Doom 2. You just killed the Cyberdemon and you open the door. What the hell is this? You knew Doom was gory, but this?! The four kids hanging on nooses have no defenses or offenses, but you have to kill them to finish the level. They each are supposed to look like a 2-D platform game character named Commander Keen. It was Id's biggest seller before Wolfenstein 3-D. I guess the guys at Id didn't like their old games.
Weapon to use:
Put these kids out of their misery fast. Use a super shotgun.

End Boss

1

2

3
STATS

Health: 250
Weapon: enemies
The End Boss is on level 30 of Doom 2. Really, the End Boss is the whole level. You start out in a room full of weapons and health. After you go through a teleporter, you see a gigantic demonic face looking back at you and are greeted in backwards talking.

Image key:
1. This is the monster's face. It's actually made up of nine images. The orange thing in the opening of its forehead is actually the monster's "brain." You have to shoot rockets into it from an elevator.

2. These cubes come out of the monster's brain. They land on the ground and turn into any enemy (except for Cyberdemons, Spider Masterminds, Lost Souls, Zombiemen, Shotgun Guys, or Heavy Weapon Dudes).

3. When you turn on the no clipping cheat and go into the monster's brain, this is what you get. It turns out that firing rockets into the brain hits the main guy in Doom development, John Romero! Something funny is that if you reverse the backwards talking the monster greets you with, it says "To win the game, you must kill me, John Romero." Download the sound file here (55 kb).
Weapon to use:
Two rockets fired at good timing on the elevator will get John. But hey, he did make Doom possible!
