WolfChex

If you click on PLAY.BAT, then use the hint codes here. If you use ZDL 3.1 with Ultimate Doom to get it to load better on newer computers, then use the hint codes here.

I don't understand the difference between GZDoom and ZDoom. I used The Ultimate Doom, ZDL 3.1, GZDoom 1.5.06, CHEX.WAD, R2LEVELS.WAD, and R2SPRITE.WAD and it worked fine. Plus I was able to take screenshots.

Wolfenstein 3D in Doom and Ultimate Doom Loading Instructions

Getting Started in Doom Or Ultimate Doom

Use The Ultimate Doom or patch it to Version 1.9. I would save a backup folder as C:\Program Files\Games\UltDoomBackup . Your other folder could get messed up or complicated, so you'll need a backup. Then I would create a folder named C:\Program Files\Games\UltDoomWads . I would copy the UltDoomBackup into C:\Program Files\Games\UltDoomWads\ . I would save this new folder as ...\Games\UltDoomWads\UltimateDoom\ .

Download Doom Legacy 1.42 here or the latest version here. Unzip it into the Legacy1.42 folder.

Get ZDL 3.1a from here or an updated version at the bottom of this wiki here. Unzip it into the ZDL3.1a folder.

Some of The Ultimate Doom add-on scenarios are simple one file .wads with a text file. Create a folder called ...\Games\UltDoomWads\OneFileWolfWads\ for 1 file scenarios like Wolfen.wad to make less clutter.

DeimWolf

You should have patched Doom or bought The Ultimate Doom. Then you should have downloaded Legacy and ZDL just like in The Getting started in Doom directions.

Unzip Deimwolf into C:\Program Files\Games\UltDoomWads\OneFileWads\ .

Open up ZDL:

If you choose to save the ZDL settings, save it in the ZDL folder with a name like "DeimWolf0.90_Legacy1.42_ZDL3.1a.zdl"

The only problem with The DeimWolf web site was that it made no mention of ZDL. I tried it in Legacy with ZDL and it didn't work.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein HUD Face

Download Doomsday. Place in your Doomsday/snowberry/addons folder.

Wolfenstein Tribute Wad

I'm going to do this in Ultimate Doom For Windows 95. It's 1 wad file and 1 text info file, so it's simple to do. Copy wolfen.wad and wolfen.txt into
C:\Program Files\Games\UltDoomWads\OneFileWads\ . Select single player on the left of the Launcher. On the right, where it says "Custom Wad File," select the location of wolfen.wad. Click on Launch on the bottom left.

If you don't have the Launcher that comes with Ultimate Doom For Windows 95, or with Doom Collector's Edition, or etc., then try Risen3D and it's drop zone.

Zero Tolerance

Use ZDoom, or both ZDL and ZDoom.

2002: A Doom Odyssey

Use ZDoom, or both ZDL and ZDoom.

2002: A Doom Odyssey Speedrun

Use ZDoom, or both ZDL and ZDoom. Be sure to copy the speed run file into your folder.

Wolfenstein 3D in Doom 2 Loading Instructions

Getting Started in Doom 2

Install Doom 2 in directory named doom2. Patch Doom 2. Then change that directory name to doom2backup. That's because if you have a lot of .wad files, the second folder could get messed up or confusing with a lot of files. Make a doom2wads folder. Copy the doom2backup folder into doom2wads. Change the name of this new doom2backup folder to doom2_v1.9.

Download ZDoom 2.2.0 for Windows here, or an updated version here. Install ZDoom in a ZDoom folder in the doom2wads folder.

Download the desired Doom 2 conversion. Install files in a new folder named after the game in the doom2wads folder.

Create a folder called ...\Games\doom2wads\OneFileWads\ for simple 1 file scenarios to make less clutter.

Open the doom2wads folder. Drag the Doom 2 conversion .wad file (e.g. wolf2.wad) onto the ZDoom exe icon. If there is a .deh file included then highlight both the .deh and .wad files together (use CTRL key) and then drag the .wad file on to the ZDoom.exe icon.

Note: It is recommended that mods that come with a .deh file included (e.g. halten.deh) should have the .deh file loaded too. In some mods (e.g. Halten Sie) it is essential. Examples of problems that can occur otherwise are dogs being too difficult to beat, and being unable to pass through some objects that are supposed to be passable.

Instead of dragging the files onto ZDoom.exe, you can use a batch file instead. A typical example of a batch file would be:
zdoom.exe -deh halten.deh -file halten.wad

Although instructions have been given for ZDoom, there are a number of other ports that are available. Check out the list of available ports.

Independent Mods

AeoD

Does anybody know how to run AeoD, Aeons of Death, the appropriate way? Contact me if you know.

Corridor 7 Total Conversion

I believe that it requires DoomsDay 1.8.6, which comes with it. The instructions that come with it are simple if you follow them. If there are any problems, then read here. With Doomsday, you may have to copy or rename the files to something with a shorter name like C:\C7TC . I recommend copying the slideshow and MP3 files into the directory!

Hell'O'Kitty

Use ZDoom.

Nazi Auferstehung

Unzip the zip file to C:\Program Files\Games\doom2wads\auferstehung\ . Copy the registerd doom2.wad file into ...doom2wads\auferstehung\NZfdoom . Click on the Marine ZDoom icon to load it.

Pinochetstein 3D

Unzip pinochestein.zip into
C:\Program Files\Games\doom2wads\Pinochestein . You will have an add_fs.zip file appear. Unzip add_fs.zip into
...\Pinochestein\data\LEGACY.DOC\ . You will have an SRC.zip file appear. Unzip SRC.zip into ...\Pinochestein\data\LEGACY.DOC\add_fs . Click on The Pinochestein3D application to load it.

It's OK to post this doom2.wad without ID Software calling because the doom2.wad is so heavily edited. It's not the typical doom2.wad file.

ReichShaus Beta

It uses The latest ZDoom SVN Build. Then read The "Total Conversion of Wolfenstein 3D by Simbey and AFADoomer" instructions because they are virtually the same. The difference is that you must use Doom 2 instead of Ultimate Doom, Heretic, Hexen, or Strife.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein For Doom 2

First read the instructions for TUTNT. Do the same thing for RTCW For Doom 2.

Unzip the file into the RTCWForDoom2 folder:

You can keep the TUTNT1.06 folders and others if you want.

Drag and drop both files at once, legacy.dat and the altered RTCW's DOOM2.wad, into the left side of ZDL port:

I saved my ZDL settings as RTCWForDoom2_GZDoom1.4.08_ZDL3.1a.zdl.

Update: vlr66 on Youtube says that you can use GZDoom, ZDoom, or Doom Legacy.

Return Of The Triad

Put your patched Doom 2 files and the latest SVN ZDoom build into your ReturnOfTheTriad1.5 directory. If you still have a problem loading it, then ask here.

Skulltag For Wolfenstein 3D

It obviously uses Skulltag. I used Skulltage 98b. There will be a place in The Skulltag menu where you'll have to select where your Doom2.wad is at. I think I exited out of Skulltag. Then I dragged and dropped stwolf3d.pk3 onto the Skulltag icon in the folder and it loaded up fine.

Total Conversion of Spear of Destiny by Simbey and AFADoomer

Go read the next entry about, "Total Conversion of Wolfenstein 3D by Simbey and AFADoomer." The instructions are virtually the same.

Total Conversion of Wolfenstein 3D by Simbey and AFADoomer

This is a true total conversion that tricks the wad file. You could use The Ultimate Doom wad file, doom2.wad, heretic.wad, hexen.wad, or strife.wad.

I use ZDoom or GZDoom SVN Builds and I didn't even need ZDL. You have to know which files go into the parent directory or not. The official directions are here. If you still have problems, then ask me, stathmk, on this forum. If you still have problems, then ask on this forum for Reichshaus Beta and The Wolfenstein 3D Total Conversion.

There's only one other difference that I noticed between running the conversion files in ZDoom or GZDoom. If you want the secret passages to be actual pushwalls, then use GZDoom. If you want the secret passages to open like garage doors, then use ZDoom. When they open like garage doors, I have gotten all the secret passages in episode 2 level 8 because no pushwall has moved to block another.

TUTNT V 1.06

It took me a day or two to learn from message boards how to run TUTNT V 1.06, The Ultimate Torment 'N' Torture Version 1.06. I've played it with GZDoom 1.2.01 and GZDoom 1.4.08. In this tutorial, I will use GZDoom 1.4.08, and ZDL 3.1a.

1. Download WinZip from this link on download.com.

2. Hopefully, you've already bought Doom 2, patched it, and made the doom2wads folder like in The Getting Started Instructions for Doom 2. Create a doom2_v1.9 folder in it and move all of these copied Doom 2 files into it. Then create folders named GZDoom1.4.08, TUTNT1.06, and ZDL3.1a in the doom2wads folder.

3. Get ZDL 3.1a from here or an updated version at the bottom of this wiki here. Unzip it into the ZDL3.1a directory.

4. Get GZDoom 1.2.01, or GZDoom 1.4.08, or an updated GZDoom here. Unzip it into the appropriate GZDoom folder. It probably doesn't matter which GZDoom you use as long as you remember which one so that you can copy your saved games. You should have noticed that 3, 4, or 5 .zip or .pk3 files poppped out. Unzip brightmaps.pk3 into the GZDoom folder. Unzip gzdoom.pk3 into the GZDoom folder. Unzip licenses.zip into the GZDoom folder. Unzip lights.pk3 into the GZDoom folder. I couldn't unzip the decorate file for some reason.

5. Get TUTNT version 1.06 from this Realm 667 dot com forum page or from The Wolf 3D in Doom 2 page. Unzip it into the TUTNT1.06 folder.

6. Get the zip files here for the TUTNT GZDoom 1.2.01 or 1.4.08 saved games and unzip them into the appropriate GZDoom folder. I know you can't use the GZDoom 1.2.01 saved games with GZDoom 1.4.08 because I've tried it.

7. Open up the ZDL folder and click on the ZDL icon. You will see a ZDL button at the bottom of the window. Click on the ZDL button and go to Options. Now you need a source port listed. Type an appropriate name in on the first line. Select the GZDoom file location. This picture is different because I've moved the window so that I could take a screen shot.

8. Now you need an Iwad file. Type in an appropriate name for The Doom 2 file on the first line. Select the Doom 2 ver 1.9 file location in the second line. An Iwad is a file like the shareware doom.wad, Ultimate Doom's doom.wad, doom2.wad, Final Doom's plutonia.wad, Final Doom's tnt.wad, heretic.wad, hexen.wad, strife.wad, or etc.

It should look like this:

9. Now you need TUTNT ver 1.06 files. It doesn't work very well to click on "Add" because you need more than one file this time. Just highlight all the files by holding down shift and pressing the down button to select them all. Then drag and drop the files into the window.

10. Click on the same ZDL button and go to "Save Config..." Select the ZDL3.1a folder to save it in. Name it "TUTNT1.06_GZDoom1.4.08_ZDL3.1a.zdl" or something similar where you'll know what it is.

11. Click on "Launch." You will have to wait less than a minute.

If there are any TUTNT v 1.06 loading problems, then let me know, or ask a question on this Realm 667 dot com Forum, or this drdteam.org page, or this Zdoom forum.

The Vile Cathedral

You should have patched Doom or bought The Ultimate Doom. Then you should have downloaded Legacy and ZDL just like in The Getting started in Doom directions.

Load it up in Legacy and ZDL, just like you used Legacy for DeimWolf. However, this time you will be selecting Doom 2 in ZDL instead of Ultimate Doom.

Laz Rojas' PC WolfenDoom

Use the latest version of The Risen3D source port. Just highlight all the files by holding down shift and pressing the down button to select them all. Then drag and drop the files into the drop zone. If there are any loading problems and you're using a PC, then let me know.

The instructions are that simple except for Astrostein 3, The Nocturnal Missions, Operation Arctic Wolf Special Edition, The Original Missions, and Treasure Hunt.

Astrostein 3 By Laz Rojas

Use Risen3D to start at map 10. That's because the levels are maps 10 through 15, map 31, and maps 16 through 21.

The Nocturnal Missions By Laz Rojas

A special custom source port is bundled with it.

Operation Arctic Wolf Special Edition By Laz Rojas

A special custom source port is bundled with it.

The Original Missions By Laz Rojas

A special custom source port is bundled with it.

Treasure Hunt By Laz Rojas

Use Risen3D. There was an error programmed into the first level where you can't get the gold key if you select the easiest difficulty setting. Selecting a harder difficulty setting surprisingly won't make it harder, but it's what you need to do to get the key to appear.

Also, use Risen3D to start at map 3 because the levels are maps 3 through 15.

Laz Rojas' and aPEX' Amiga WolfenDooom

The best Doom port on Amiga is Doomattack and ADoom is next best.

Best Amiga Emulator is WinUAE.

Until recently you would have needed a 3.1 kickrom and OS3.1/3.9 which can be purchased from AmigaForever. But WinUAE now comes with a built in AROS rom replacement and the m68k AROS operating system can be downloaded for free.

It is a work in progress so there are a few problems, but I have tested it with WolfenDoom and it works aside from the odd lock up on start and a problem with the music. The default set-up is not very good and may give you problems but I could mail you the OS archive with my set-up - it is less than 10mb.

Regards, James

Thanks to James Stalham for the Amiga WolfenDoom files, instructions, and screenshot!
