DOOM AND THE COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL MASSACRE

Okay, this is a very controversial subject so I'm gonna say this first: I do not condone what the shooters did at Columbine High School. I don't think they were Satanic monsters either. I've done a lot of research into the shootings, and it just seems that they were simply out of their minds, which was not a choice they could have made. This page clearly separates facts and my opinions. It is about Doom and if/how it had anything to do with the massacre.
I am currently in high school, and I've visited Columbine High School; in fact, I lived within five miles of the school at the time, and I still do. I was in third grade at the time, and it hit me hard. I have put the time and effort into forming a solid opinion over the years.

On April 20, 1999 at approximately 11 a.m. mountain time in a Jefferson County high school near Littleton, Colorado, two students of the school, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, stormed the school with guns, mercilessly and casually killing twelve fellow students and one teacher, injuring many, many others before turning the guns on themselves. The killed were Cassie Bernall, Steve Curnow, Corey DePooter, Kelly Fleming, Matt Kechter, Daniel Mauser, Daniel Rohrbough, Dave Sanders, Rachel Scott, Isaiah Shoels, John Tomlin, Lauren Townsend, and Kyle Velasquez.
There are arguments over why; some say the boys were just evil, but most agree that they were "getting revenge" for the harassment they had experienced from fellow students. Harris and Klebold said that is why they would do what they did, but when the shooting started, they seemed to be shooting completely random people, who had done nothing to them. At one point, the shooters walked up and down an empty hallway for three minutes, shooting lockers and throwing lit pipe bombs.
Eric Harris, the supposed mastermind and leader of the attack, played Doom. A lot. He made several Doom wads, but he really spent most of his time playing Doom, and when he couldn't play it, he thought about it, talked about it, drew pictures of scenes from it. He seemed to never stop thinking about it. There's even a photograph of his notes in another student's yearbook, in which he's writing his goodbye to the student (who's moving to Florida), and out of nowhere, he writes "Doom rules." See it here (This image is © ~(@)~ 4-20-99: a Columbine site -- Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold -- Littleton, CO school shooters ~(@)~).
It has been said that Eric Harris made a Doom map of Columbine High School, and even that he replaced monster faces with those of his classmates. So far, there has never been any proof of that.

Opinion

I personally believe that Doom had nothing to do with the Columbine High School attack. I seriously doubt that Kelly Fleming was running at the shooters hurling fireballs from her hand when she was shot, or that Corey DePooter was charging at them with a shotgun. In Doom, Hell Knights don't comfort eachother under tables crying.
Humans have killed eachother since the beginning of our existence, before Doom was around. Harris and Klebold were going to shoot up their school no matter what. If you ask me, Doom did nothing to encourage or cause the massacre at Columbine High School.
